🌟 How It Works: 🌟

Simple Steps. Big Impact.

  1. Sign Up – Fill out a quick volunteer form and tell us a little about yourself.

  2. Meet with Us – Sit down with Chad or another associate for a quick conversation. We’ll get to know you, share our mission, and make sure we’re the right fit for each other.

  3. Get Matched – We pair you with a neighbor in your community who could use a warm meal and an even warmer smile.

  4. Prepare, Deliver, and Connect – Prepare or cook a meal, or pick up one if provided, deliver it, and spend meaningful time connecting with your new friend.

  5. Document the Visit – Complete a brief form or checklist for MWAF’s records to help us track visits, support clients, and celebrate your impact.

  6. Repeat When You Can – Whether it's once a week or once a month, every visit makes a difference!

🧡 Because sometimes, a meal is just the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Frequently asked questions:

1. Who can volunteer with Meals With A Friend?

Volunteers must generally be 18 years or older. However, if someone younger wishes to volunteer, we’re happy to evaluate on a case-by-case basis. In those situations, the volunteer will be paired with a legal adult to ensure a safe and supportive experience.

2. What do volunteers do?

Volunteers prepare or pick up a fresh meal and spend meaningful time with a client during a friendly visit. It’s about offering companionship, conversation, and kindness — not just delivering food.

3. Do I need to cook the meal myself?

No! Volunteers can either prepare a home-cooked meal or pick up a meal from a restaurant or grocery store. It’s the time spent together that matters most.

4. How much time does volunteering take?

Typically, a visit takes about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the appointment and the conversation. Some friendships naturally grow longer over time!

5. How do I sign up to volunteer?

Yes. We provide simple orientation materials to make sure you’re comfortable and prepared for your first visit. Friendly visits are casual but meaningful, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

7. Can I volunteer with a friend or family member?

Absolutely! Volunteering together can make the experience even more rewarding. Just let us know when you sign up.
